Asian Games Cricket: India Set Up Dream Final Against Pakistan; Bangladesh to Fight for Bronze

Dbarta24 Sports Desk — Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are set to clash in a blockbuster gold medal match at the Asian Games cricket tournament, following decisive victories in their respective semi-final encounters on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in a high-stakes third-place playoff for the bronze medal.

Both crucial fixture deciders, including the highly anticipated final showdown and the bronze medal match, are scheduled to take place on October 3.

India Dominate Sri Lanka in Second Semi-Final

In the day’s second semi-final played at Nishin’s Korogi Sports Park, India delivered a dominant performance to outclass Sri Lanka by a massive 124-run margin.

Batting first, India posted a formidable total on the board, driven by standout batting performances from Ishan Kishan and young prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi. In response, Sri Lanka’s batting lineup crumbled under relentless pressure from the Indian bowling attack, falling well short of the target and sealing India’s spot in the final.

Pakistan Edge Bangladesh in Rain-Truncated Clash

Earlier in the day, Pakistan secured the first spot in the gold medal match by defeating Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-curtailed, 13-over contest.

Sent in to bat, Bangladesh posted 111 runs on the board within their allotted 13 overs. However, Pakistan chased down the target comfortably, reaching the destination in 11.3 overs to book their ticket to the final against India.

Bronze Medal Opportunity for Bangladesh

Despite missing out on a place in the final, Litton Das’s Bangladesh side still has a shot at bringing home silverware.

The Tigers will take on Sri Lanka in the third-place playoff match on October 3. A victory against the Sri Lankans will ensure a bronze medal finish for Bangladesh before they head back home.
