Special Report: Bangladesh has officially asked Pakistan to apologize for the genocide during the 1971 Liberation War. The country also urged Pakistan to resolve historical issues to improve relations between the two nations.
On Sunday (August 24), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared this information in a statement.
On the same day, Bangladesh’s Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain met Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at a hotel in Dhaka.
The statement said that during the meeting, the Foreign Adviser emphasized building stronger bilateral relations based on mutual respect, understanding, and shared interests.
Both sides held open and constructive discussions on mutual, regional, and international issues. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in areas like trade, investment, agriculture, education, health, energy, communication, people-to-people connections, culture, tourism, and disaster management.
Bangladesh highlighted the importance of exploring untapped opportunities in all sectors. Both sides agreed on the need for regular diplomatic and sector-specific communication to achieve this.
