Special Correspondent; Dbarta24 – Four new members are poised to take their oaths today to join the cabinet led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The swearing-in ceremony for the prospective ministers and state minister is scheduled to take place at Bangabhaban this Friday evening, immediately following the presidential oath-taking ceremony of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

According to official sources, three political figures—BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moyeen Khan, Bangladesh BJP Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partha, and Bandarban lawmaker Saching Prue Jerry—are expected to join as full ministers.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Linkon, the representative for the Gaibandha-4 constituency, is widely tipped to take the oath as a state minister.

Cabinet Division officials have already initiated contact with several candidate members, requesting their presence at the presidential palace on Friday evening.

Confirming the invitation, MP Saching Prue Jerry stated, “I received a call and was asked to be present at Bangabhaban around 7:30 PM. That is all I can confirm at this moment.”

Preparations for the ceremony are underway behind the scenes. A senior official from the Department of Government Transport confirmed that six vehicles were requested and dispatched to the Cabinet Division.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani offered a cautious response regarding the prospective inductees, maintaining that while he could neither officially confirm nor deny the additions, the division has been directed to remain prepared for the proceedings.

The proposed additions bring a mix of veteran leadership and allied coalition representation to the executive branch:

  • Abdul Moyeen Khan: A member of the BNP Standing Committee and lawmaker representing the Narsingdi-2 constituency, securing his seat in the 13th National Parliamentary Election held this past February.
  • Andaleeve Rahman Partha: Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BJP), who won the Bhola-1 constituency after contesting the national election as part of the ruling coalition.
  • Saching Prue Jerry: The convener of the BNP Bandarban district unit and current Member of Parliament for the Bandarban constituency.
  • Mohammad Shamim Kaiser Linkon: The Member of Parliament representing the Gaibandha-4 (Gobindaganj) constituency.
When the government was formed in February under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the cabinet originally comprised 50 members, including 25 ministers and 24 state ministers alongside the Prime Minister.

The administration also operates with 10 advisors—five holding the status of full minister and five holding the status of state minister—who do not sit as formal cabinet members.

With the induction of three new ministers and one state minister, the total strength of the cabinet will rise to 54 members.

Excluding the Prime Minister, the updated executive line-up will feature 28 full ministers and 25 state ministers.
