National Report: BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) to call on Jamaat leader Delwar Hussain Sayeedi to call upon Sayeedi to express their strong condemnation and concern over the heinous attack by anti-freedom Jamaat-shibir gang on several media journalists.
He was sentenced as a war criminal by the country’s highest court for crimes against humanity in 1971. At the same time, the top leaders of both organizations demanded that the gang of attackers be immediately identified and brought under the law to ensure proper punishment.
BFUJ President Umar Farooq and General Secretary Deep Azad and DUJ President Shohel Haider Chowdhary and General Secretary Akhtar Hossain made this demand in a joint statement on Tuesday (15 August 2023).
Journalist leaders said that by calling an anti-freedom and anti-humanitarian convicted by the Supreme Court a war criminal, journalists have fulfilled their professional duty by respecting the independence, sovereignty, and rule of law of the country.
We believe that the people who ambushed journalists at that time are anti-liberation fighters and anti-independence.
He said we believe that those who do not believe in the freedom of the country, the liberation struggle, and the decision of the Supreme Court, are traitors.
All these radical attackers must be immediately identified and brought under the net of law and the spirit of freedom and liberation war must be upheld through appropriate punishment.
Otherwise, the spirit of the liberation struggle will be in danger due to the increase of this evil power.
