Dbarta24 Report — The Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) has announced three private management Hajj packages for the upcoming pilgrimage, reflecting an overall increase in costs compared to the previous year.
Under the newly declared structure, the Special Package is set at BDT 7,91,060, the General Package at BDT 5,95,580, and the Economy (Sashroyi) Package at BDT 5,13,545. HAAB President Syed Golam Sarwar unveiled the packages during a press conference at a hotel in the capital’s Bijoynagar, accompanied by HAAB General Secretary Farid Ahmed Mazumder.
Key Rate Adjustments and Cost Breakdown
Unlike last year, all three private packages this season include both food expenses and the mandatory Qurbani (animal sacrifice) cost. A comparative look at the private package pricing shows a clear upward trend across all categories:
| Package Type | Last Year’s Cost | New Cost |
| Special Package | BDT 7,50,000 | BDT 7,91,060 |
| General Package | BDT 5,50,000 | BDT 5,95,580 |
| Economy Package | BDT 5,10,000 | BDT 5,13,545 |
HAAB leaders noted that agencies may also offer a customized premium package beyond these options based on specific pilgrim demands.
The announcement follows the government’s release of its own state-managed Hajj packages by Religious Affairs Minister Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad.
Under government management, Package-1 stands at BDT 6,15,263, while Package-2 is priced at BDT 5,05,648. Subject to the sighting of the moon, the holy Hajj is expected to take place on May 15.
Addressing the pricing mechanism, HAAB President Syed Golam Sarwar explained that rates were calculated based on an exchange conversion rate of BDT 33.20 per Saudi Riyal.
“Since the final expense statement for the Saudi portion was unavailable, the Hajj package was prepared based on tentative costs following the trend of previous years,” Sarwar stated. “If costs increase or decrease in any sector under the Saudi government, it will be adjusted accordingly with the package price.”
He further highlighted that because paying for Qurbani through Saudi Arabia’s Nusuk Masar platform has been made mandatory this year, animal sacrifice expenses have been directly integrated into the private packages alongside food provisions.
