Desk Report- The British government has imposed sanctions on a Bangladeshi organization for the first time on charges of illegal human trafficking.

The UK Foreign Office made the formal announcement on May 5, which was later confirmed by British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.

The sanctioned firm has been identified as Dream Home Travels and Tours Limited.

This landmark action was taken under the UK’s Global Irregular Migration and Trafficking in Persons Sanctions Regulations 2025. As part of the sanctions, any assets belonging to the company’s owner within the United Kingdom have been ordered to be frozen.

According to Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Dream Home Travels and Tours Limited was found to be involved in the fraudulent recruitment and subsequent exploitation of Bangladeshi citizens.

The investigation revealed that the firm advertised high-paying service sector jobs in Russia.

However, upon arrival, the Bangladeshi recruits were reportedly coerced into fighting on the front lines of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine.
