Desk Report: Details of the Indian Lok Sabha elections have been announced. The country’s 543 seats will be contested starting from April 19, with voting continuing in seven phases until June 1.
Results will be declared on June 4.
Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar, made this announcement on Saturday (March 16).
Indian media outlet NDTV reported that elections for both Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly will be held simultaneously in the four states of Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. However, Jammu and Kashmir are not included in this list.
By-elections will also be conducted for 26 legislative assembly seats in multiple states, including Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, during this time period.
