Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Taken to Hospital for Treatment

Online Desk – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was taken to the hospital on Monday evening, local time. He was admitted to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Tel Aviv.

Following reports in the Hebrew media, the Prime Minister’s Office issued an official statement clarifying that Netanyahu was visited the hospital primarily for dental treatment, according to a report by The Times of Israel on Tuesday (May 26).

However, the health condition of the 76-year-old Prime Minister has recently sparked massive public debate and speculation in Israel, primarily due to past instances where his medical information was kept hidden from the public.

Just last month, Netanyahu revealed in a lengthy social media post that he had successfully undergone surgery at the Hadassah Medical Center for a malignant prostate tumor.

He claimed that the information was initially withheld so that it could not be used as propaganda against Israel in its ongoing conflict with Iran. However, he did not specify the exact dates of the diagnosis or when the treatment concluded.

While his announcement was accompanied by an annual health report and an additional document regarding his cancer treatment, critics pointed out that the report was barely half a page long, vague, and lacked any reference year. Furthermore, none of the documents bore an official hospital logo or a formal medical sign-off.

Netanyahu’s medical history shows a series of health complications over the last few years. In July 2023, he had a pacemaker implanted. Later, in March 2024, he underwent hernia surgery, followed by a prostate removal operation in December 2024.

During his pacemaker implantation, his office initially claimed he was spending a night at the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan merely for dehydration monitoring. Public trust was shaken when the hospital later admitted that a subcutaneous heart monitor had actually been implanted.

A week later, doctors confessed that an ECG test had shown irregularities during that stay, despite their earlier assurances to the public that the Prime Minister’s heart was “completely normal.”
