Dbarta24 Sports Desk — Just hours after overseeing a batting practice session at the Mirpur Academy ground, former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful has been removed from his position as the national team’s batting coach.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the decision in a press release, stating that Ashraful will be reassigned to a new role within the organization, though details of his new assignment have not yet been disclosed.

Mohammad Salahuddin, the head coach of the BCB’s High Performance (HP) unit, will step in as the interim batting coach until a permanent successor is named.

A Short-Lived Tenure

Ashraful was originally appointed as the national team’s batting coach in November 2025. His tenure has come to an end in less than a year, marked by sudden changes in the team’s coaching setup.

While the official BCB press release did not specify the exact reasons behind the sudden shift, the move follows mounting scrutiny over the national team’s batting performances.
Most recently, the team’s struggles during the triangular series in the United Arab Emirates drew widespread criticism from fans and analysts alike, leading many to believe the coaching change is a direct response to these on-field shortcomings.

The Road Ahead

With Salahuddin taking the reins on an interim basis, the BCB is expected to search for a long-term solution. According to board insiders, the management is leaning toward hiring a foreign coach to take over the batting department on a permanent basis in the near future.

As Bangladesh cricket navigates this transitional period, the focus shifts to how the interim coaching staff will prepare the squad for upcoming international fixtures while the board finalizes its next major appointment.
