No foreign observer has applied so far: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Diplomatic Correspondent: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that no foreign observers have applied to monitor the upcoming national elections. This information was given in the regular briefing in the ministry on Thursday (August 17).

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Sehli Sabreen said in response to a question from journalists that no foreign observer has requested to monitor the upcoming elections.

Last July 9-23, an EU pre-election evaluation delegation visited Bangladesh. And one such delegation from the United States is scheduled to visit Bangladesh next month in October.

Allowing foreign observers to observe the upcoming elections will be in compliance with the prevailing laws of Bangladesh and the election observation policies issued by the Election Commission.

The spokesperson also said that in view of the National Assembly elections, the Election Observer Assistance Cell has been started by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The cell will provide all assistance to foreign observers. Also, this cell will verify the identity of those people who want to come to Bangladesh as foreign observers.
