Dbarta Desk : Nuclear fuel from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) will arrive in the country in September. Rosatom Director General Alexei Likhachev said this during a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence in ganabhaban on Monday (31 July).
Citing Likhachev’s speech after the meeting, the Prime Minister’s press secretary, Ehsanul Karim, said, “The work of the National Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) has overcome hundreds of obstacles and the nuclear fuel for this plant will reach Bangladesh in September.”
During the press conference, Ehsanul Karim said that Rosatom DG informed the Prime Minister about the overall progress of the RNPP project and discussed the project. They also talked about the organization of the opening function of the RNPP.
The Prime Minister thanked all concerned parties for moving forward with the work of the National Disaster Reduction Program despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the global crisis. He thanked Russia for its technical and financial support.
Sheikh Hasina referred to Russia’s support and cooperation in the Great War of Liberation and the post-war reconstruction of Bangladesh, and expressed hope that Russian assistance would continue in the future.
