Economic Report: Recently, there has been a kind of bearishness in the overall stock market.
Along with the almost continuous fall in prices, the speed of transactions has also slowed down.
The transactions which were above Tk1000 crore have now come down to Tk 300-400 crore.
In this market situation, more than one lakh Beneficial Owners (BO) accounts have been closed in the last one and a half months.
These closed BO accounts include local investors as well as foreign or overseas investors. Apart from this, the company also has a BO account. However, male investors have a higher number of closed BOs than female investors.
BO is an account opened by an investor with a brokerage house or a merchant bank for investing in the stock market.
Investors transact in the stock market through this BO account. Trading in the stock market is not possible without a BO account.
According to the data of the Central Depository of Bangladesh (CDBL), at the end of June this year, the total BO account of investors in the stock market was 18 lacks 60 thousand 774.
On August 14, this number decreased to 17 lacks 45 thousand 184. That is, there has been a decrease of 1 lakh 15 thousand 590 in BO accounts in one and a half months.
