International Desk — SpaceX’s record-breaking stock market debut has not only propelled Elon Musk into the trillion-dollar club but has also unlocked immense wealth for his long-time associates and top executives.
A recent report by CNBC, utilizing data from FactSet, reveals that the share value owned by several close allies of Musk has now officially crossed the billion-dollar threshold following the historic initial public offering (IPO).
During the first week of SpaceX’s public debut, investors scrambled to purchase shares, driven by Musk’s ambitious plans for the company’s future.
Although the initial stock market frenzy cooled down slightly, dragging SpaceX’s market capitalization to $2.43 trillion by Thursday’s close—just below e-commerce giant Amazon—the stock remains over 37% higher than its initial IPO price of $135 per share.
The historic market debut has turned several long-time insiders and early backers into official billionaires:
-
Valor Equity Partners (Antonio Gracias): The firm holds shares worth approximately $96.6 billion, primarily on behalf of its clients. Its founder and CEO, Antonio Gracias, is a long-time associate of Musk and serves on the SpaceX board. Gracias, who previously served on Tesla’s board, also collaborated with Musk on the Trump administration’s ‘DOGE’ project aimed at cutting federal government spending.
-
Luke Nosek: A co-founder of PayPal alongside Musk, Nosek has been on the SpaceX board since 2008. His shares in the company are currently valued at $6.3 billion. Nosek also co-founded Founders Fund and Gigafund with Peter Thiel.
-
Gwynne Shotwell: As the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SpaceX, Shotwell manages the daily operations while Musk focuses on high-level strategy. One of the company’s largest individual shareholders, her stake is now valued at $2.40 billion.
-
Brett Johnsen: Joining SpaceX in 2011 as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Johnsen manages the aerospace giant’s long-term financial strategies. His holdings in the company are now worth $1.20 billion.
