Diplomatic Correspondent, Dbarta24 — US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs, Sergio Gor, is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka this afternoon for a three-day official visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties and assessing regional humanitarian priorities.
Diplomatic sources confirmed that during his stay, Special Envoy Gor will hold high-level bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Tariq Rahman and Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman.
A central component of his visit includes a scheduled trip to Cox’s Bazar on Friday to inspect the ongoing Rohingya refugee situation firsthand.
The primary objective of the US delegation’s visit is to gain a comprehensive understanding of Bangladesh’s evolving foreign policy priorities under the new administration.
The discussions are expected to touch upon key diplomatic, economic, and regional security issues.
Expressing optimism about the visit, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs recently noted that relations between Bangladesh and the United States have consistently remained strong, adding that bilateral ties are strengthening even further under the current government.
Diplomatic observers from both nations anticipate that this high-level engagement will add a dynamic new dimension to trade and diplomatic cooperation.
Gor, who assumed his role as the US Ambassador to India in January this year, concurrently serves as the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
In this dual capacity, he represents Washington’s interests across several nations in the region, including Bangladesh and Nepal.
