Health Report : A total of 14 patients died of dengue fever and 2,751 were admitted to various hospitals in the country in the past 24 hours up to 08:00 today ( 7 August ).
“During this period, 1,119 patients with dengue fever were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka city, while 1,632 patients were admitted to various hospitals outside Dhaka,” said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) from Dhaka .
This year 327 people died due to dengue fever. This is the highest rate in a year since dengue was discovered in 2000, while last year 281 deaths were reported,” the DGHS daily statement said.
The total number of Dengue patients increased to 69,483. The statement also said about 59,584 patients were discharged from different hospitals this year.
She added, “A total of 9,572 patients with dengue fever are receiving treatment in various hospitals, including 4,652 in Dhaka while 4,920 are outside the capital.”
Health experts warned that the dengue fever situation may worsen this month and next, and called on the concerned authorities to launch a broad campaign against all types of mosquitoes.
