Khairul Alam ; Dhaka – Four directors from the district, divisional, and institutional categories are set to be elected unopposed to the Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) ahead of the upcoming election. The BCB election is scheduled to be held on June 7.

Friday was the final day for the submission of nomination papers, and the final list of valid candidates will be published on Saturday following the scrutiny process.

According to sources, only a single candidate submitted nomination papers in the Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Sylhet divisions. As a result, Mir Shakrul Alam of the Bogra District Sports Association (Rajshahi Division), Mirza Faisal Ahmed of the Thakurgaon District Sports Association (Rangpur Division), and Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury of the Divisional Sports Association (Sylhet Division) are going to become directors without facing any contest.

A total of 10 directors will be elected from the district and divisional category. Among them, two directors each are elected from Dhaka, Chittagong, and Khulna divisions, while one director each is elected from Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barisal, and Sylhet divisions.

The Election Commission briefed the media on Friday, stating that three candidates each in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Khulna divisions, and two candidates in Barisal have submitted their nominations.

Consequently, elections are highly likely to take place in these divisions. However, the official list of valid candidates will be made public on Saturday after the verification.

Meanwhile, one director is elected from the educational institutions and organizations category. Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir is the sole candidate from this section.

Serving as a counselor from Chittagong University, Sirajuddin has previously served as a BCB director and was the member secretary of the BPL Governing Council during its inaugural edition.

Returning Officer Taherul Haq Chouhan informed that 14 nomination forms were submitted in Category-1, 18 in Category-2, and one in Category-3. The scrutinized and verified list of valid candidates will be officially published on May 23.
