Local Correspondence: A prison guard vehicle was attacked on the highway in Cox’s Bazar, and notorious dacoit Kamal Hossain was abducted by criminals. During the attack, one prison guard, Shahidul Islam, was injured.
The incident occurred on Thursday (November 28) at around 5 PM in the Kutupalong Rohingya camp area on the Ukhiya Highway in Cox’s Bazar.
Reports suggest that the incident happened while prison guards were transporting three recently released Rohingya detainees from the Cox’s Bazar District Jail to the Teknaf Mochni APBN camp.
The attack took place in the Kutupalong Register camp area, when members of Master Munna’s group ambushed the prison guard vehicle.
During the attack, Kamal Hossain, a notorious criminal from Teknaf’s Mochni camp, was forcibly taken. Both Shahidul Islam, the prison guard, and the vehicle driver sustained injuries in the attack.
Although the APBN police arrived at the scene after receiving the news, they were unable to rescue anyone.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station, Arif Hossain, confirmed that a General Diary (GD) has been filed at the station by the Cox’s Bazar District Jail authorities regarding the incident.
