Sports Desk: After much speculation and anticipation, Bangladesh has finally announced its squad for the upcoming Cricket World Cup.
The 15-member team does not include the country’s star opener, Tamim Iqbal. Instead, the reins of leadership have been handed over to Mahmudullah Riyadh.
In the upcoming World Cup, Bangladesh will be led by all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, as Tamim’s absence has opened up opportunities for another Tamim, Tamim Iqbal’s cousin, Tanjid Hasan.
The selection has sparked some controversy, with young pacer Tanjim Hasan taking a place in the World Cup squad despite ongoing debates on his Facebook status. Apart from these changes, there are no major surprises in the squad.
The opening positions will be held by Liton Das and Tanjid Hasan, with Mehedi Hasan Miraz considered as the backup opener. The team also includes five pacers among the 15 members: Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, and Tanjim Hasan Tamim.
