Khairul Alam ; BCB , Dhaka – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is currently being managed by an ad-hoc committee led by Tamim Iqbal.

Following the dissolution of the previous board headed by Aminul Islam Bulbul on April 7 due to proven irregularities, the National Sports Council (NSC) appointed an 11-member ad-hoc committee with Tamim as president. Their primary mandate was to organize an election within 90 days.

However, the ad-hoc committee does not intend to wait for the full 90-day period. Today, during the second ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand, BCB President Tamim Iqbal visited the press box at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium.

While interacting with journalists, he shared the board’s plans regarding the upcoming election.

Addressing the media, Tamim stated that the committee aims to hold the BCB election as early as June.

“We want to conduct the election in the first week of June. If that’s not possible, we will certainly hold it in the second week,” he said.

Although Tamim’s committee has until July 21 to complete the process, they are keen on an early transition. “Our deadline is July 21, but that doesn’t mean we have to wait until then.

It can be done earlier. Our first preference is the first week of June; otherwise, the second week is confirmed,” he added.

In addition to election talks, Tamim expressed his desire to bring back ‘ball boys’ starting from the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand.

He noted with regret, “Earlier, we used to see young cricketers acting as ball boys around the boundary. It’s still common in other countries. I don’t know why it was stopped here, but we want to restart this tradition.”
