Khairul Alam: Due to heavy rains in different parts of the country, the water level of many rivers has started rising. The amount of rain may reduce in the next 24 hours.
However, after this, the rains may increase again, said the Meteorological Department. There is also a fear of the water of a river crossing the dangerous limit.
The rains that started on Saturday (August 12) night in the capital subsided after Sunday (August 13) afternoon. Although it rained continuously, it was not always heavy rain. As the day progressed, the amount of rain decreased.
Although there has not been much flooding in Dhaka, due to water falling from the sky throughout the day, ordinary people are in trouble.
Meanwhile, outside Dhaka, especially in the coastal areas, the water level of the river has risen after a few days of rain.
According to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, the water level in rivers connected to the Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Padma rivers is rising, which may continue for the next 48 hours. In the north-eastern part of the country, all major rivers are in spate except the Kushiyara, which is likely to stabilize in the next 24 hours.
According to weather agencies, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in the northern and upper parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
The Teesta river may flow above the danger level at Dalia and Kauniya points in the next 24 hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, the axis of monsoon winds extends from northern parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Bangladesh up to Assam.
