Dhaka drowned in one hour of rain

Khairul Alam: After a day of dry weather, Dhaka was drenched in continuous rain for an hour in the afternoon. The low-lying areas of the capital are drowning in water. The townspeople are in trouble.

On one side, the roads have been submerged due to the accumulation of water and, on the other side, a transport crisis has arisen.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

The sky of the capital has been clear since morning on Wednesday (August 9). There was no sign of rain. After noon, the sky gradually became cloudy.

It started raining lightly around 4 pm. After that, the rain started increasing with time. By 5:30 p.m. the rain had subsided, but most of Dhaka’s roads were partially submerged. The ordinary people who came out of the office were in danger.

During rain, vehicles can be seen moving on the roads with headlights on. Pedestrians could be seen running towards their destinations drenched in the rain.

Some go to their destination in a rickshaw while some are crossing the road with shoes in their hands through dirty water.

Those who are leaving with a motorcycle or a car are also facing problems. Water and dirt enter the engine and stall the car.

Meanwhile, due to heavy rains, there has been waterlogging on various roads in the capital. The residents of old Dhaka are facing the most trouble due to the floods.
