Bangladesh-US security talks expected to be held in Dhaka

Diplomatic Correspondent: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes to hold security talks between Bangladesh and the US in Dhaka this year.

In a regular press conference on Thursday (August 17), Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Seheli Sabreen said in response to a question that the 8th Bangladesh-US security dialogue was held in Washington DC last year.

In continuation of this, we hope that the ninth session of the dialogue will be held in Dhaka this year. Thus, as part of the regular process, security talks are being held every year in the capitals of both countries.

In response to another question, Sehli Sabreen said that meeting or discussion is a regular thing in any bilateral relationship. Bangladesh has a multifaceted relationship with the United States.

She also said the US is the single largest export market and the largest investor in Bangladesh. Apart from this, they are also at the forefront of providing humanitarian assistance to the Rohingyas.

“As a result of all this, there are regular discussions between Dhaka and Washington as part of the dynamic bilateral relationship,” said the MEA official.
