Ifaz Ehtamad: Planning Minister MA Mannan has sought the cooperation of the Japanese government in the repatriation of Rohingyas staying in Bangladesh. The planning minister made this call after a meeting with the Japanese parliamentary delegation at his office at the Ministry of Planning in Sher e Bangla Nagar of the capital on Sunday (September 3).
The planning minister said Japan is our good friend. They have good relations with Myanmar.
Therefore, I have sought their assistance in the safe repatriation of 1.2 million Rohingya members staying in Bangladesh.
Japan is assisting us in the construction of Metrorail, the third terminal at Shahjalal International Airport. The members of the delegation said that in the future there will be support in other sectors including railways.
In response to a question, a member of the delegation said, “Tomorrow we will visit the Rohingya camp.” Japan will take the necessary steps after reviewing the humanitarian assistance there.
Besides, the delegation will hold talks with the Japanese business delegation staying in the country.
They emphasized improving the investment environment of the country.
The members of the delegation sought closer relations between the businessmen of the two countries, including digitalization and social security.
