Sports Desk: Barcelona continued their explosive form with a dominant 5-2 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.
This victory marks their third 5-goal performance in their last seven matches across all competitions, with the Spanish giants showing no sign of slowing down.
Barcelona’s offensive onslaught in Belgrade began early, with Inigo Martinez scoring in the 13th minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The goal came from a brilliant header off a free-kick by Brazilian forward Raphinha.
Red Star quickly equalized in the 27th minute through Silas Kotompa Mvumpa, but Barcelona regained control before halftime with Robert Lewandowski’s brace in the 43rd and 53rd minutes, putting the score at 3-1.
Just two minutes after Lewandowski’s second, Raphinha added another goal for Barcelona, stretching their lead to 4-1.
In the 76th minute, Fermín López sealed the win with a fifth goal for Barcelona, making it 5-1. Red Star managed a late consolation goal in the 84th minute through Felicio Milson, reducing the deficit to 5-2.
With this win, Barcelona has now scored 15 goals in the Champions League this season, the most by any team in the competition so far.
Raphinha and Lewandowski, both with 5 goals each, are currently joint top scorers in the tournament.
The victory lifts Barcelona to 9 points from 4 matches in their group, and they now sit in 6th place on the standings.
