Jessore Correspondence: Fifty-four devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) were not allowed to enter India by the authorities at the Benapole Checkpost in Jessore while attempting to travel on Saturday.
The devotees, from various districts of Bangladesh, arrived at the Benapole port to travel to India but were denied permission by immigration officers after waiting for hours.
When contacted, Devgour Das Brahmachari, the head of the ISKCON temple in Jessore’s Chachra area, declined to comment on the incident.
However, some of the ISKCON devotees who had come to Benapole to travel expressed disappointment, stating that they intended to visit India for religious rituals but were turned away without any explanation from the immigration authorities.
Benapole Immigration Checkpost Officer-in-Charge (OC), Imtiaz Ahmed, clarified that the devotees’ travel permission was denied due to concerns over the suspicious nature of their journey.
