First Economic Zone in Bhola

Bhola Correspondent : The first economic zone in Barishal Division is set to be established in Bhola. The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has issued a pre-qualification license for the project, named “Bhola Eco-Development Economic Zone.”
Initially, the zone will cover 102 acres of land in Sadar Upazila, with plans to expand to 158 acres. Around 40 industrial factories are expected to be set up here, creating employment for 100,000 people and attracting USD 1 billion in investment.
The developer of the project will be Lease Fashion Industries Ltd. of China. BEZA’s Executive Member, Major General (Retd.) Nazrul Islam, said that the zone will utilize agricultural and fisheries resources to bring new momentum to the economy of the southern region.
Project Director Zhuang Laifeng stated that the plan is to establish an environment-friendly and circular economic zone, which has already attracted interest from foreign investors.
