BJP Protest in Kolkata Outside Bangladesh Deputy High Commission

Desk Report: A protest was held in Kolkata, West Bengal, in front of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission, led by the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) against the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a spokesperson for the Combined Sanatani Jagaran Coalition and the head of Pundarik Dham. The protesters demanded his release.

The demonstration, led by BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Suvendu Adhikari, took place on Wednesday.

The protestors carried placards and chanted various slogans as they marched towards the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission.

According to the Times of India, the protest was organized in response to the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a priest of ISKCON Bangladesh.

West Bengal BJP leader Agnimitra Pal stated that eight BJP lawmakers were granted permission to enter the Bangladesh High Commission.

Adhikari and other lawmakers from border regions planned to enter, while others would stay outside. “We are concerned about the arrest of our Hindu brother, Chinmoy Das Prabhu.

We demand his unconditional release. We cannot tolerate such brutality against Hindus,” Pal said.

Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested by the Bangladesh police’s Detective Branch (DB) at Dhaka’s Shahjalal International Airport on Monday afternoon while en route to Chattogram.

He was later transferred by road to Chattogram and held at the Detective Police Office overnight.

On Tuesday, he was presented in court, where his bail was rejected, and he was sent to jail.

The arrest has sparked significant concern among the BJP, particularly regarding the treatment of Hindus in Bangladesh.
