Foreign Desk : Jailed former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan met his wife Bushra Bibi. They met at Punjab’s high-security Attock Jail on Thursday (August 10) local time.
Imran Khan is currently imprisoned in the same jail after being convicted in a corruption case.
He said in a video message that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson Imran Khan (70) and his wife met. They talked among themselves for about half an hour.
Earlier, PTI had claimed that Imran Khan’s life was in danger. The party’s vice-president, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, claimed that Imran Khan’s life in jail is in a dangerous condition and he is not given food there.
The court directed the authorities to keep Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, but he was shifted to Attock Jail. There is a lack of facilities. ‘B Class’ facilities are not provided in that jail.
Imran Khan’s lawyer claimed that the cell in which he is kept has worms and the former Prime Minister is being given third class (C class) facilities.
On 5 August, a local court found the PTI chairperson guilty in the Toshakhana case and sentenced him to three years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Soon after that, the police arrested him. PTI appealed to take Imran Khan to Adiala Jail but he was sent to the infamous Attock Jail.
