Bangladeshi-Origin Prodigy Cavan Sullivan Makes History with Record-Breaking MLS Streak

Cavan Sullivan scores for Philadelphia Union to set a new Major League Soccer record

Dbarta24 Sports Desk — Bangladeshi-origin wonderkid Cavan Sullivan has etched his name into Major League Soccer (MLS) history once again, becoming the youngest teenager ever to record a goal contribution in five consecutive matches.

The 16-year-old phenom achieved the feat after scoring a crucial goal in Philadelphia Union’s triumph over CF Montréal.

Sullivan entered the match already holding the record as the youngest player in MLS history to register a goal or an assist in four consecutive games—a milestone he achieved at just 16 years and 336 days. By finding the back of the net against Montréal, he extended that remarkable streak to five straight fixtures.

A Spectacular Finish Under Pressure

The match shifted in Philadelphia’s favor in the 57th minute when Danley Jean Jacques broke the deadlock to give Union the lead. However, it was Sullivan’s 75th-minute strike that secured the victory and stole the spotlight.

The goal showcased Sullivan’s sharp instincts and composure. After a teammate’s initial attempt inside the penalty box was thwarted by the Montréal goalkeeper, Sullivan sprinted from behind, dodged multiple defenders, and unleashed a precise first-time strike into the net.

The goal marked Sullivan’s fourth league goal of the season for Philadelphia Union.

Surpassing MLS Legends

The youngest of the celebrated “Sullivan Brothers,” Cavan has been in sensational form throughout the campaign. He has now directly contributed to 11 goals this season—scoring 4 and providing 7 assists.

With this performance, Sullivan broke the long-standing record set by former prodigy Freddie Adu in 2005. Adu previously held the record for the most goal contributions by a player aged 16 or younger in a single MLS season, with 10 total contributions (4 goals and 6 assists). Sullivan’s 11 goal involvements now set a new benchmark for youth excellence in North American soccer.

As Sullivan continues his rapid rise in the league where world stars like Lionel Messi play, his record-breaking performances serve as a point of immensely proud recognition for soccer enthusiasts across North America and Bangladesh alike.
