Dengue Claims 18 Lives and Hospitalizes 3,122 in Bangladesh

Health Desk: Dengue fever has taken a toll on Bangladesh, with 18 fatalities reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll from the disease to 822 this year. During the same period, an additional 3,122 individuals have been admitted to hospitals across the country.

According to the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Ministry of Health, this information was disclosed in a Dengue-specific report on Sunday (September 17th).

Between 8 AM on Saturday (September 16th) and 8 AM on Sunday, dengue has affected and hospitalized 3,122 individuals in various government and private hospitals nationwide. Among them, 849 patients are in Dhaka, while 2,273 are outside the capital.

Since January 1st of this year until September 17th, a staggering 1,667,684 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 732,233 are in hospitals in Dhaka, while 945,451 are in hospitals outside Dhaka.

The current number of dengue patients receiving treatment in hospitals stands at 10,437. Among them, 4,666 are in Dhaka, while 5,771 are outside the capital.

This year, dengue has claimed the lives of 822 individuals in Bangladesh. Of them, 564 were in Dhaka, and 258 were outside the capital.

Notably, 156,425 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals during the same period. Of these, 68,603 were from Dhaka, while 87,822 were from outside Dhaka.

In 2022, dengue claimed 281 lives in Bangladesh, with 27 fatalities reported in the last month of that year. During the same year, 623,382 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals.
