Explosive weapons including 95 detonators at three locations in Kulaura

Local Correspondent: The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has recovered huge cache of ammunition from three terrorist hideouts in the hills of Kulaura Upazila in Moulovibazar District. Unit chief Mohammad Asaduzzaman confirmed this information on Tuesday (August 15).

The CTTC recovered 95 detonators, 5 kg of explosives, 14 pistol rounds, Ramada and Tk 2 lakh in cash from three hill hideouts during the operation, he said at a press conference held at Moulvibazar police line, along with 17 arrested by the mob. Militants were also recovered.

According to the information given by the militants during interrogation on the night of Monday 14 August, the operation was carried out in a remote hilly area.
The CTTC launched this operation on the suspicion of more terrorist hideouts in the militant hideout area of East Tatiuli village of Karmadha Union of Kulaura Upazila. All those detained are members of the new terrorist organization “Imam Mahmud Kafela”.

He also said that for the time being the campaign in the hilly areas is over. More interrogation of the prisoners is needed. If new information comes to the fore, raids will be done again in the area.

According to CTTC sources, the Counter Terrorism Unit raided the area on Tuesday morning taking 3 out of the 17 terrorists arrested. First of all raids were conducted in some hilly areas including Kalapahar. The campaign ended at around 2 pm.
