Ifaz Tarek, Special Correspondent: The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a warning as a mild to moderate heatwave continues to grip 27 districts across the country, including the capital, Dhaka.
On Saturday (April 4, 2026), the Met Office confirmed that the sweltering conditions are likely to persist for at least the next 24 hours with little change in day or night temperatures.
Districts Under Alert
The heatwave is currently affecting:

Dhaka Division: Dhaka, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Manikganj, and Narayanganj.

Other Regions: Rajshahi and Khulna divisions, along with Rangamati, Chandpur, Barishal, and Patuakhali districts.
Record-Breaking Temperatures
Chuadanga has emerged as the hottest spot in the country for the third consecutive day, recording a maximum temperature of 39.7°C. Meanwhile, Sylhet saw significant rainfall of 102mm in the last 24 hours, providing some localized relief.
Rainfall Forecast
While most parts of the country will experience a dry and partly cloudy sky, there is a chance of isolated rain or thundershowers with gusty winds in parts of the Chittagong and Sylhet divisions by Sunday morning. A trough of low pressure currently lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas, while a seasonal low persists over the South Bay.
