Feni Correspondent ; Dbarta24 — A devastating collision between a passenger bus and a stationary covered van on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway left three people dead and another critically injured on Friday morning.
The fatal crash occurred around 7:00 AM in front of Daulatpur Government Primary School in the Muhuriganj area, located under Chhagalnaiya Upazila of Feni. The deceased include the driver and helper of the covered van, along with the driver of the bus.
Sequence of the Crash
According to Highway Police sources, the covered van had suffered a mechanical failure earlier in the morning and was stranded on the highway. To tow the broken-down vehicle, the driver and helper engaged a long-vehicle transport to hook it up.
As the crew was attempting to move the covered van, a Chittagong-bound passenger coach operated by Unique Paribahan coming from Dhaka rammed into the rear of the van with immense force. The high-impact collision severely crushed both vehicles and left four individuals with life-threatening injuries.
Rescue Efforts and Official Statements
Local residents rushed to the spot following the impact and assisted emergency responders in extracting the victims. All four casualties were immediately transported to Feni General Hospital for urgent medical care.
Attending doctors at the facility pronounced the covered van driver, his helper, and the Unique Paribahan bus driver dead upon arrival. The surviving victim, whose condition remained critical, was subsequently transferred to a specialized hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Noman of the Fazilpur Highway Police Outpost confirmed the details of the operation.
“Upon receiving information about the collision, police personnel rushed to the scene and, with the help of locals, rescued the four individuals and dispatched them to Feni General Hospital,” said SI Abu Noman. “Doctors there declared three of them dead. The bodies have been placed in the hospital morgue, and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is working to verify their identities.”Highway Cleared
Authority officials confirmed that all three involved vehicles—the Unique Paribahan bus, the broken-down covered van, and the long vehicle—have been seized and taken into police custody to facilitate a full investigation into the incident.
Normal traffic movement on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway was restored shortly after the wreckage was cleared from the lanes.
