5 Killed, Including 4 of a Family, in Fatal Bus-Ambulance Collision in Faridpur

Faridpur Correspondent – A tragic head-on collision between a bus and an ambulance in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur has claimed the lives of five people, including four members of the same family.

The accident took place around 10:45 AM on Sunday in the Shankarpasha Bus Stand area on the Dhaka-Barisal highway.

The deceased have been identified as ambulance passengers Md. Jahangir Mollah (62), Alamgir Hossain Mollah (58), Khurshida Begum (45), and Jahangir’s wife, Majeda Akhter (48).

All four belonged to the same family and hailed from Balia Mostafapur village under Shibchar upazila in Madaripur district. The ambulance driver, Kawsar (25), son of Shahjahan Matubbar from Saidarbali, also died in the crash.

The incident was confirmed by Helal Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Bhanga Highway Police Station.

According to the OC, the family members were traveling by ambulance from Madaripur to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for medical treatment. When the vehicle reached Shankarpasha in Nagarkanda, it collided head-on with a Faridpur-bound BRTC bus.

Upon receiving the news, teams from the Nagarkanda Police Station, Bhanga Highway Police, and the Nagarkanda Fire Service rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies, and cleared the highway to resume normal traffic flow.

OC Helal Uddin added that the police are preparing the inquest report and taking necessary legal action. Both the damaged bus and the ambulance have been taken into the custody of the Bhanga Highway Police Station.
