Staff Correspondent, dbarta24.com – The second session—and the very first budget session—of the 13th National Parliament is commencing today, Sunday. During this crucial session, Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury will present the proposed national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on June 11.
Following extensive deliberations and discussions by members of both the treasury and opposition benches, the budget is scheduled to be officially passed on June 30.

According to relevant sources, the Parliament Secretariat has already completed all necessary arrangements ahead of the budget session. These preparations kicked off right after President Mohammed Shahabuddin formally summoned the parliamentary session.
The session will go live at 3:00 PM today under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. Prior to the commencement, the Business Advisory Committee of Parliament will hold a meeting to finalize the exact duration and detailed agenda of the session.
Security measures have been significantly beefed up in and around the Parliament House area. To ensure absolute safety, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a strict ban on carrying firearms, as well as holding any form of processions, demonstrations, rallies, or meetings in several areas of the capital, effective from yesterday, Saturday.
As per the official order of business published by the Parliament Secretariat, the opening day of the session will begin with the nomination of the panel of chairmen and the placement of obituary references.
This will be followed by a designated question-and-answer session. The ministries listed for today’s Q&A segment include the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Ministry of Industries, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, and the Power Division.
Furthermore, notices received under ‘Call Attention to Matters of Urgent Public Importance (Rule-71)’ will be disposed of.
A report by a special committee formed to determine actions to address challenges in the energy sector will also be presented by the committee’s chairman and Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud.
