Diplomatic Correspondent from New Delhi : Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart, Dr. S. Jaishankar, in New Delhi today, Wednesday (8 April).
The high-profile meeting is set for 1:00 PM local time at Hyderabad House. Following this, Dr. Rahman is expected to hold discussions with India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
Accompanied by the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor, Humayun Kabir, the Foreign Minister will address several critical bilateral issues.
Key topics include the renewal of the Ganges Water Sharing Treaty, border security, trade facilitation, and energy cooperation.
Notably, the discussions are expected to touch upon the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other Awami League leaders currently in India, as well as the repatriation of those involved in the killing of Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman bin Hadi.
This visit marks the first ministerial-level tour to India since the BNP-led government took office. Following his Delhi engagements, Dr. Khalilur Rahman will depart for Mauritius tomorrow, April 9, alongside Dr. Jaishankar, to attend the 9th Indian Ocean Conference (IOC 2026) scheduled for April 10–12.
