Dbarta Desk : Foreign observers are confident in the Election Commission’s ability to conduct free and fair national elections in accordance with the country’s constitution. The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Hassan Mahmoud said it today.
He also said that the election monitoring team came to see me. He asked many questions about the upcoming elections, especially what the government’s preparations are for conducting the elections and what is the status of the Electoral Commission.

Easley, Irish journalist and EU correspondent Nick Powell, political editor and head of the Election Monitoring Forum, Abd Ali and his directors – Professors Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, Dr. Azad Al-Haq, Muhammad Iqbal Bahar and Awami league for Relief and Community Welfare Aminul Islam Amin – attended the meeting held at the Secretariat .
Minister Hassan said that he told the observers that the elections will be held under the supervision of the Electoral Commission and that the current government will only play the role of facilitator.
The minister told observers that after announcing the election schedule, the government has no authority over institutions related to conducting elections, including field administration, police and public administration.
He told observers that without permission from the Election Commission, the government cannot transfer or take punitive measures against any official during the elections.
I think he realized that it is possible for the Election Commission to conduct free, fair, impartial and beautiful elections in light of the constitution. During the elections, the government will play a secondary role and the role of the Electoral Commission will be the largest.
The minister said that during the municipal elections, a candidate was assaulted, which is unacceptable.
