George Clooney and Meryl Streep lead large donation to SAG-AFTRA emergency fund

Foreign News: Actors George Clooney and Meryl Streep have come forward to make significant contributions to the American Television and Radio Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) emergency fund while the strike continues for actors.

In a press release published Wednesday, it was announced that the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, with the support of some of Hollywood’s highest-paid stars, has successfully raised more than $15 million.

The objective of this fund is to provide much-needed support to the actors within the union who are facing financial hardship during the ongoing strike.

Expressing her commitment to the cause, Meryl Streep said: “In this strike, I am fortunate to stand with those who will fight the long battle to preserve Goliath.

Together we will fight to eliminate humanity.” Amada will stand firm against these powerful corporations.” to human dignity, and even to a man of our profession”.

The emergency fund was created to provide assistance to applicants from among the 160,000 union members who have been on strike since last month demanding a new contract agreement with the Alliance of Film and Television Producers (AMPTP). Although talks have begun with the Writers Guild of America (WGA), there are currently no scheduled talks with SAG-AFTRA.

As A-list Hollywood celebrities come together to show solidarity and support, the SAG-AFTRA Emergency Fund stands as a lifeline for actors in need during this historic moment in the entertainment industry.
