Hilsa caught in flocks in Bay of Bengal

IfaZ Rehan Kabbya : The 65-day government ban on sea fishing has ended. The fishermen of Barguna went fishing in the sea from the midnight of 23 July with a trawler.

In addition to various species of marine fish, Hilsa is also caught in their nets. Every day the fishermen are returning to the ghat with trawlers. As a result, the supply of Hilsa has increased in the Patharghata Fish Landing Station.

It may be known that after the ban, about 100 tonnes of sea fish were sold at this fishing jetty in seven days. Out of which 70 tonnes is Hilsa. However, due to inclement weather, many fishing trawlers are returning to the jetty ahead of schedule.

A visit to the Patharghata Fish Landing Center reveals that compared to last year, the supply of Hilsa at the Ghat has increased this year. Every day about 10-15 trawlers are returning from the sea with fish.

Some of them caught fish in small trawlers and returned within a day and some returned after seven to eight days. The fishermen are returning to the ghat with hilsa in each trawler loaded with fish of different species.

They are also getting good prices due to the large catch of hilsa in the sea. In this, fish worth crores of rupees are being sold every day at the Patharghata Fish Landing Center in Barguna.
