Foreign Desk: While the Bangladesh branch of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has distanced itself from the excommunicated scholar Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the main ISKCON organization has expressed its support for him.
Indian news outlet Win reported that on Thursday, November 28, ISKCON made a post on the microblogging site X, declaring that ISKCON.India stands with Chinmoy Krishna Das.
The post also included a prayer to Lord Krishna for the safety of all devotees.
Prior to this, the Bangladesh branch of ISKCON had stated that since Chinmoy Krishna Das had been excommunicated, they could not speak on his behalf and would not be responsible for any of his actions.
Chinmoy Krishna Das, a prominent leader of the Bangladesh Combined Sanatan Jagaron Front and head of Pundarik Dham, has been accused of disrespecting the national flag.
Last month, BNP leader (later expelled) Firoz Khan filed a sedition case in Chattogram against him.
On Monday, November 25, this controversial Hindu scholar was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) from the airport area in the capital.
The following day, after being presented in a Chattogram court, he was sentenced to prison, leading to violent clashes in the court premises. During the violence, lawyer Saiful Islam Alif tragically lost his life.
