Crime Report: The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has ordered the seizure of accounts or business relationships with any bank, insurance, financial institution, or any other investment institution in the name of the banned terrorist organization Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiah. Also, they have been directed to report their bank account or business transaction details to BFIU.
BFIU, the financial intelligence agency set up to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, issued a directive in this regard on Tuesday.
Instructions to all banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, money changers, any money remittance company, stock dealers and stock brokers, portfolio managers and merchant bankers, security custodians, asset managers, non-profit organizations, private development organizations, cooperative societies Copies are sent to real estate developers, precious metal or stone trading firms, trust and company service providers, lawyers, notaries, other legal professionals, and accountants.
These institutions and professionals are primarily considered reporting bodies to BFIU. As per the guidelines, the activities of the terrorist group Jamaatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiah have been banned through a gazette notification on August 9 in view of the threat to public safety. Any account belonging to this banned group should be blocked under the anti-terror law.
It also said that if there is any business relationship with this organization, the same should be stopped and BFIU should be informed.
