Desk Report : 14 members of Congress have written the US Ambassador of United Nations Linda Thomas Greenfield to express concern about the Bangladesh government’s violence against peaceful protesters.
US Congressman Bob Goode, one of the signatories to the letter, said this information in a tweet on Thursday (July 27). However, he did not post the transcript of the letter in the tweet.
Congressman Bob Goode wrote on Twitter that free and fair elections are the right of the people of Bangladesh. 13 of my colleagues and I sent a letter to the US Ambassador to the United Nations to express concern about the Bangladesh government’s violence against peaceful protesters.
Earlier, in early June this year, 6 members of Congress wrote to US President Joe Biden asking for urgent action to end human rights abuses in Bangladesh and facilitate free and fair elections. One of the signatories to that letter was US Congressman Bob Goode.
