Liton Das Breaks T20 Sixes Record, Becomes Second-Highest Run-Scorer for Bangladesh

The innings not only secured the win but also saw the wicketkeeper-batter set a new record for the most sixes by a Bangladeshi batter in T20Is.

Liton Overtakes Mahmudullah for Most T20I Sixes

In the match at the Abu Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong had set a target of 144. Chasing the target, Liton opened the innings and led the charge from the front. While his partners Parvez Hossain Emon (19 off 14) and Tanzid Tamim (14 off 18) departed early, Liton built a crucial 95-run partnership with Towhid Hridoy that steered the team towards a comfortable victory.

Liton’s impressive innings of 59 runs off 39 balls included 6 fours and one six. It was this single six that helped him surpass Mahmudullah Riyad to become Bangladesh’s leading six-hitter in T20Is. Before the match, both players were tied with 77 sixes. Playing his 111th T20I, Liton now holds the record with 78 sixes, while Mahmudullah had achieved his 77 sixes in 141 matches.

Second-Highest Run-Scorer for Bangladesh in T20Is

Liton’s magnificent form has also seen him climb to the second spot on the list of Bangladesh’s all-time highest run-scorers in T20Is, surpassing Mahmudullah Riyad in this category as well.

Furthermore, the 95-run partnership between Liton and Towhid Hridoy is now the highest for Bangladesh in the T20 Asia Cup, surpassing the previous record of 82 runs set by Shakib and Sabbir in the 2016 edition against Sri Lanka.
