Made in Bangladesh brand is becoming more popular among the brands

Khairul Alam : Global safety standards combined with strides in responsible and sustainable business practices and enhanced capabilities to meet demand for diversified products have increased the preference for Made in Bangladesh garments by international buyers.

Farooq Hasan, President, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), made some remarks while addressing Sports Group Denmark’s liaison office opening ceremony in Dhaka today, according to a press release.

He said that Bangladeshi garment factories have made great efforts and investments to maintain safety in the workplace, improve their production capabilities, especially for making more complex and high-value items, and improve the field of environmental sustainability.

‘Made in Bangladesh’ brand is becoming more popular with brands and retailers. This is evident in the recently released report, in which American fashion companies ranked Bangladesh as the most competitively priced country out of all countries manufacturer of ready-made garments.

In his speech, BGMEA Chairman said that diversifying markets and moving into more complex and value-adding products is a key strategy for the garment industry in Bangladesh to achieve sustainable growth.

He said that the industry is increasingly investing in technologies and innovations in line with changing global trends to enhance its competitiveness, adding that the sector is committed to continuing its efforts in this direction to maintain its reputation in the global market.

Farooq urged international buyers, including Sports Group Denmark, to increase their sourcing of apparel, especially high-value apparel from Bangladesh.

He also asked them to find ways to strengthen partnership with their suppliers for mutual benefits.
