Members of the US Congress call on the world to come forward in the Rohingya crisis

Local Correspondent: After visiting a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar, members of the United States Congress urged the world to take a stand in favor of Bangladesh in dealing with and overcoming the Rohingya crisis.

At this point, they expressed their gratitude to the Bangladesh government for providing shelter to the large Rohingya population.

They were peaking after visiting the Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Monday (August 14) evening and meeting with officials at the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner after returning to Cox’s Bazar.

At the time, Ed Keyes, a member of Congress from the ruling Democratic Party of the United States, told reporters that he had spoken to the Rohingya community during a visit to a Rohingya camp.

The Rohingya talk about their dwindling food aid, lack of education, and living in the present. At the same time, he demanded that the Rohingyas be sent back to their homeland.

He said that these issues should be reported to the US government in the form of a report. Bangladesh has set an example of humanity by giving shelter to more than one million Rohingyas. We heartily thank the government and the people of Bangladesh for this.

Richard McCormick of the Republican Party, a member of the delegation, said the information derived from discussions with officials involved in Rohingya management would be presented in writing.

Hailing Bangladesh’s role in the Rohingya crisis, he said, “We call upon all the countries of the world to stand with Bangladesh to overcome and overcome this crisis.”
