Khairul Alam From Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium; Mirpur – Mehidy Hasan Miraz has added another “fifer” to his illustrious career, helping Bangladesh bowl out Pakistan for 386 in their first innings.
With this clinical bowling performance, the Tigers have secured a crucial 27-run lead.
The third day began with Pakistan losing four quick wickets in the first session, leaving them in a spot of bother.
However, Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan steadied the ship with a resilient 119-run partnership. Their steady accumulation of runs started to cause concern for the Bangladeshi camp.
The breakthrough finally came just before the tea break. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam dismissed Rizwan, who scored 59 off 79 balls.
Attempting a big shot, Rizwan stepped out of his crease but only managed to loft the ball high into the air, where Mahmudul Hasan Joy comfortably completed the catch.
Pakistan went into the tea break at 349 for 6, trailing Bangladesh by 64 runs at that stage.
Despite the resistance in the middle session—where they added 98 runs for the loss of just one wicket—the tail could not withstand Miraz’s spin magic, eventually folding for 386.
