Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in China for SCO Summit 2025 after seven years.

Desk Report: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited China after seven years. After completing a two-day trip to Japan, Modi flew to China on Saturday, where he was welcomed with a red-carpet reception at the airport.

He will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on August 31 and September 1, according to Hindustan Times.

This is Modi’s first visit to China since 2018. During the SCO summit, Modi is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Key issues likely to be discussed include the India-China border situation, regional security, and economic cooperation.

Before arriving in China, Modi completed his Japan visit. In Tokyo, he discussed strengthening cooperation with Japan in trade, space technology, and infrastructure. Experts believe that Modi’s consecutive visits to Japan and China send a strong message in regional diplomacy.

China has long promoted the SCO as an alternative platform to Western influence. Through active participation in the summit, India aims to strengthen its position in multilateral forums.
