Modi-Xi Jinping agree to de-escalate border tensions

Foreign Desk: India and China have agreed to de-escalate border tensions. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed on this in a meeting held on the sidelines of the BRICS summit on Wednesday (August 23).

This information was reported by the BBC with reference to India’s Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra.

Vinay Kwatra said that Modi and Xi Jinping sat in discussions on the sidelines of the BRICS conference held in South Africa on Wednesday. In that meeting, they agreed to take measures to reduce border tension.

Beijing claims that the meeting was held at Modi’s request. Although India is saying that the meeting was held at China’s request.

For more than three years, Sino-Indian border tensions have intensified. The Himalayan region has a border of about 3,440 kilometers between these two neighboring countries, one of the largest economies in the world.

Much of this vast border known as the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is undefined.
