Motorcycles are prohibited on the Dhaka elevated expressway

Khairul Alam:  Dhaka Elevated Expressway from the airport to Farmgate will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 2 September.

After this, pedestrians and bicycles will not run on the expressway. Motorcycles also do not run at the moment.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Kader gave this information on Monday (August 14) in a press conference at Setu Bhavan in the capital.

Obaidul Kader said,” I am happy to inform you that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the first section of the Dhaka Elevated Express Highway from the airport to Farmgate on September 2.

He said that the total cost of Dhaka Elevated Expressway is 8 thousand 940 crores. It is 19.73 km long. The overall progress of the project is 65 per cent and will end on June 2 next year.

The Road Transport and Bridges Minister said that the length of the airport to Farmgate main line is 11.5 km. There are a total of 15 ramps.

13 ramps open. The speed limit of the car has been fixed at 60 km per hour. It will take 10 minutes to reach Farmgate from the airport.

South Asia’s first Bangabandhu tunnel will be inaugurated on October 26 across the Karnaphuli River in Chittagong. It will also be inaugurated by Sheikh Hasina.

Apart from this, he will also inaugurate the metro rail from Agargaon to Motijheel in the middle of October.
