New injection to treat cancer in the UK

Heath Report: UK scientists have developed a new injection to reduce the long-term duration of cancer treatment. This injection can be applied to the patient’s body in just 7 minutes. According to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), this will cut cancer treatment times by up to three-quarters.

The new injection received approval from the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) on Tuesday (August 30).

Soon after, the NHS announced that cancer patients who have been treated with immunotherapy will now be given injections of atezolizumab.

According to the NHS, until now cancer drugs were delivered into the patient’s body through a vein.
It used to take about 30 minutes to about an hour. But the new injection will do the same in just 7 minutes.

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust consultant oncologist Dr. Alexander Martin British said the new injection would allow patients to be treated more quickly. We can treat more people in less time than ever before.

Thousands of cancer patients in the UK have benefited from the IV regimen of atezolizumab. The risk of cancer recurrence is very low with this treatment.

Atezolizumab is an immunotherapy drug. It is able to find and destroy cancer cells in the patient’s body. It is currently used to treat patients with various types of cancer, including lung, breast, liver, and bladder.
